So far, I was able to download and launch my sims 3 game with and without the super patch. So I decided to just log in as a new Admin account on my Mac. They even left the chat and didn’t email me back for any further assistance. And I had the worst experience with EA (contacting them in total of 4 times for any troubleshooting). Until recently I bought the Sims 3 University Life Expansion Pack. I never opened my Sims 3 game cause I had no motivation to try to fix it. So I’ve been having problems ever since the new update (months ago) but this was when I knew nothing about this new super patch. You can check it’s patched ok by opening the Launcher and looking at the patch number in the bottom left of the window: You’ll see a little window showing the update progress:Īnd that’s it, you’ve now successfully patched your game to the most recent patch, 1.67. Navigate to Applications > The Sims 3 > The Sims 3 then click Update: The patch will open and a window will appear asking you where the game is. You need to hold down the CTRL key and click on the extracted file to open it. Gatekeeper now only allows Mac App Store and Identified Developers installations, you will not get the Anywhere option in System Preferences. You will now get another warning window, just click Open:

If you don’t see the above you need to click on the lock in the bottom left corner of the window, enter your password when prompted (your user account must be an Admin account) and change the ‘ Allow apps downloaded from:’ setting to Anywhere. In the bottom half of the window you should see your Gatekeeper preferences: Click on Open Anyway as we know that file is the super patch. Navigate to System Preferences > Security & Privacy and make sure you’re in the General tab.

If Archive Utility doesn’t open and the file doesn’t unzip properly, download Stuffit Expanderfrom the App Store, it’s free and will successfully unzip the file.
